Definitely a shift in the dialogue. It will be interesting times as businesses grapple with the shift from a 'broadcast' world to a more 'conversational' one!

[...] Social innovation is open to all businesses that truly want it. Whilst employees might be more geographically dispersed than they once were, the technologies exist to re-integrate them and rebuild the relationships and trust that are so essential to running an effective business. Those relationships can be extended beyond company boundaries, to build effective communities with customers, partners and shareholders. Social media is making businesses more accountable than they have been in living memory. Consumers are becoming activists and campaigners, and what goes on inside of the walls of a company no longer remains there (see Dominos Pizza - Why Everyone is in PR Now and Employee Engagement Matters).
Of course, all customers are in PR too:
http://citroencustomerservice.wordpress.com/2009/04/24/poor-customer-service-from-citroen/
I wonder if anyone else has had poor enough service from a dealership to provoke them to write about it... ;-) I've heard it is quite cathartic.

Cheers Benjamin

An eloqently put synopsis that for me helps answer the "why Twitter?" question from many intelligent but as yet unconnected friends and associates.

Also reinforces the approach we have adopted at Sonar6 for some time now. Viral marketing may have some credibility issues at times, depending on origin, but these can be overcome or trumped by the value in increasing awarenesss (of the company, product, issues etc) driven at the same time.

Regards

Domino’s has not lost this battle, but the company needs to look forward and show customers and prospective customers what they're doing to make sure this will never happen again. This will require reaching out to consumers where they have been getting their information so far. Go to http://www.bulletproofblog.com/2009/04/15/in-responding-to-food-safety-concerns-dominos-must-get-viral-as-well/ to see some practical suggestions.
