Hello Darren, thank for for the comment. That incident sounds painful!

One of the biggest incoming challenges for the workplace is the blurring between personal and work. We are entering an era where the line is thinner and thinner. I know too many people who feel that they have to check their email or take work calls over the weekend. If this is part of a 'give and take' arrangement, where they can reclaim their personal life during the week, that is less concerning. However, it is still leaving more and more people unsure about where work starts and ends. It sounds like you found someone who has perhaps pushed the balance too far the other way!!!

Nicely put Benjamin. You're also forgetting that some companies (OK switched on London digital web agencies) use Facebook to organise their staff socials/nights-out and to share the pics afterwards. Are these companies with no culture of trust the same ones that don't organise regular company socials too?

And incidently when I was last in there I had to listen to the department head ordering her Christmas presents all day on the telephone: it would have been far less distracting if she'd been online!
