Now this is the good news that workers need to hear! Don’t work longer, work harder. But is that really good news?

It certainly is. Most of the work that goes on in the modern office just produces heat and light, rather than results. Even worse is the fact that modern managers encourage this behaviour. What about managing for results? Managing for outcomes? Driving someone to put in a 12+ hour day, every day, isn’t going to get the best value for the company. Something else is; Getting people to put in their best. Go hard, not long.

It is easy to end up staying in the office way past 6, but are you really getting more done? Are you doing your best? Or just your longest?
