For me, Who’s on First? by Abbott and Costello is a classic piece of script:

In all the confusion, it is actually a good remembering that who, what, when and where are very good questions for working out what needs doing! When asked in the right way. Simple questions that bring the clarity needed to get things done.

‘Why’ is an interesting beast though. Many coaching books seem to thrust ‘why’ away, as a thing that brings accusation and challenges trust. I think asking ourselves why and letting others know why is a powerful way of getting the right things done. It is a vital part of the toolset, and not one to be left on the shelf.

Keep asking why.
